Historias Personales: Viviendo con Artritis Reumatoide – Frank
My name is Frank Colachagua I have rheumatoid arthritis and I am a patient at the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases. Well the symptoms ah I started to have at the beginning of the disease were a lot of strong pains then I was not allowed to do my job normally. I work in construction and it requires a bit of strength in the field. So it did not allow me to work 100 percent daily. I was feeling sometimes frustrated by being able to not function normally as I did before. I believe that was what impacted me the most. Feeling so young and so strong and then that I could not continue with my normal tasks. my experience was that in 2004 I began to feel some pain in my hands and shoulder. So that forced me to go to a primary doctor and he did some blood tests and he recommended, he told me to see a specialist. After seeing a specialist they started doing some treatments. After a few years I had o stop those treatments so I had to seek help from other doctors and those doctors referred me to the institute at NIH. My experience has been very good. From the first day they offered me all the help and all the necessary exams to see what the best treatment for me would be And during all this time we have done different treatments that have been improving my condition. They treat you very well, they are quick to respond to your questions, they answer everything and they are patient, they always work with you, the best way to help you feel good. My quality of life now is that I can work, continue with my normal activities. Not like 10 years ago, I do not know if it is due to my age or illness. I feel healthy in general. Precisely that they should lose that fear or fear that supposedly these are only studies They are well-directed studies or well-studied (worth the redundancy.) They take the time to help you and find the best solution to your disease. They helped me very fast. Since I know that this disease has no cure at this time, maybe examining me more we can see other options and we can find a better solution.
