To prepare Actiste for an injection, remove the insulin cartridge holder by twisting counter clockwise. Insert an insulin cartridge into the holder. Now put the cartridge back, making sure the arrow is facing up, and twist clockwise to lock into place. Always prime Actiste before each injection. (Priming removes air bubbles and ensures the syringe functions correctly) Remove the sterile cover from a new needle, and attach it to the insulin cartridge by twisting in a clockwise direction. Select the priming dose. (If the insulin cartridge is new, set the priming dose to 8 units. If it has been used before, set the dose to 2 units. If you are not sure, set it to 8 units) Remove the outer and inner protective covers from the needle. Turn Actiste upwards and tap the side of the syringe to remove any air bubbles. Press the dose dial all the way down. Actiste is now primed for an injection. Turn the dose dial clockwise to set the desired dose for an injection. Insert the needle into the injection site demonstrated by your healthcare provider. Press your finger all the way down on the dose dial to administer the injection. The record of the insulin dose injected is now shown on Actiste’s display. You can add tags for meals, exercise and notes. Put the outer protective cover back on the needle, and twist counter clockwise to remove for disposal.
